Cheese and tomato on toast

A simple yet scrumptious breakfast of snack that requires a few ingredients of toasted bread, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.

  • 1 toaster
  • 1 oven

Ingredients
  

  • 2 slices toasted bread
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese
  • 1/2 green pepper
  • 1 tomato thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C
  • Wash the tomatoes and green pepper thoroughly. Thinly slice the tomatoes. Remove the seeds and stem from the green pepper and finely chop it.
  • Grate the cheddar cheese using a box grater or food processor.
  • While the toast is still warm, spread a thin layer of butter evenly over each slice, and place on a baking tray.
  • Arrange the tomato slices on top of the buttered toast, covering the surface as much as possible.
  • Sprinkle the green pepper rings over the tomatoes.
  • Top each slice with an even layer of grated cheddar cheese.
  • Season the assembled toasts with a pinch of salt and pepper to enhance the flavors (if needed).
  • Place the baking tray in the oven until the cheese starts bubbling and has melted.
  • Remove from the oven and serve while still warm

Notes

Serve your Cheese and Tomato on Toast immediately while it's still warm and the cheese is gooey. This dish pairs well with a side salad for a light lunch or with a fried egg on top for a heartier breakfast. A cup of hot tea or coffee also makes a great accompaniment.
